“True Blue”

Some of my favourite childhood memories are of searching for bowerbirds’ bowers and marvelling at all the blue treasures they collected.

I never actually saw the bowerbird itself, but I knew it was there. Every time I returned, something new had appeared — another little blue treasure carefully added to its collection.

That childhood curiosity stayed with me, and I wanted to capture a little of that magic in this painting. There’s something wonderful about the mystery of nature and the little discoveries that stay with us long after we're grown up.
