This painting was inspired by a real-life moment.

One night while driving home, I spotted something strange on a power pole. At first, I thought it was just an odd shape or part of the pole — but something didn't quite look right. I had to do a double take before I realised I was actually looking at a Tawny Frogmouth trying its best to disappear into the pole! 

Their incredible camouflage never ceases to amaze me. What looked like part of the power pole was actually a beautiful Australian bird hiding in plain sight.
